WBB: Lady Mustangs’ Ulate and Lucero ink with Benedictine University Mesa Redhawks

Chandler, AZ — It was a historic day at Skyline Gila River, as it was the first time in school history to have student-athletes sign to play at the collegiate level. Seniors Seqouia Lucero and Angelica Ulate have officially signed with Coach Brian Hutchins and Benedictine University Mesa Lady Redhawks. “We are very excited to have them coming in to be a part of our program.” Hutchins stated. “They are more then just basketball players they are great young ladies!” Hutchins added.

“It’s a great opportunity to play at the next level and stay closer to home.” Lucero said. “We wanted to get this process done and focus on our upcoming playoff run!” Angelica added. Angelica referring to the CAA State Tournament upcoming next week where the Lady Mustangs are in prime position to receive a first round bye.

“I couldn’t be more proud of these young ladies, they really helped bring this program to the top of the CAA.” Coach Daveda Taylor stated. “The young girls that we have around school really look up to the senior girls and see the work they put in.” Taylor added.

The Lady Mustangs end the Regular Season today at home vs. San Tan Charter School at 4pm. Then the brackets will be revealed next week to see where the Lady Mustangs postseason will begin. “Mustang Nation can check the website and social media outlets for all updates next week!” Principal Vaughn Flannigan stated.
